DON'T PANIC
DON'T PANIC

Collaborative multiplayer mobile AR game
UW Design—Capstone—2022

Don’t Panic is an augmented reality(AR) cooperative multiplayer game. In a 3x3x3 grid, two players must collaborate to warn each other about dangerous zones and take refuge before the lasers kick in. The catch is, each player only sees half of the danger zones.

Highlight #1
Vuforia Image Tracking

The game levels are placed on tracked images reliably with precision through Vuforia. We hope to use markerless tracking in the future through cloud anchors.

Highlight #2
Photon PUN2

We used Photon PUN2 APIs for creating multiplayer features such as hosting a game room, joining one, and syncing actions in real-time.

Highlight #3
VFX / Post Processing

I had the opportunity to dive into VFX and post-processing on Unity. I used particle systems and shader graphs to achieve visual consistency and make assets that are more geared towards AR gameplay.

Highlight #4
Participatory Workshop

We observed how participants were reacting and communicating through these sessions. This validated the game concept and get feedback for constraints and features.

Highlight #5
Exhibition Installation

It's incredible to see people trying and enjoying our work. We shared the project as an experience installation at the 2022 University of Washington Design exhibition.
